The goal of the Narrative Lectionary is to provide a way to hear the story of God’s redeeming work in Christ through the Old and New Testament and to help the worshipers to live in that story. Year one of the narrative lectionary typically includes readings from the Old Testament, such as Genesis, Exodus, Joshua, Judges, and portions of the historical books. The gospel of Matthew is the focus for the year during the gospel portion of the year, followed by Romans as the primary epistle.
